How To Clean a Bathroom Step-by-Step

Most people dread the thought of cleaning the bathroom. It can really be nasty and dirty but someone has to do it. Bathrooms should be one of the cleanest rooms in the house so go ahead and grab those cleaning supplies and get started. Don’t be surprised at how many cleaning products you will need to make the bathroom sparkling clean; the bathroom uses many different products, more than any other room in the house. The key to getting you organized for a total bathroom clean-up is to have a bin that holds all your cleaning supplies. You can then carry the bin from place to place as you clean. Don't forget the bathroom surface cleaner, window washing fluid, sponges, scrub brush, mildew remover, dust rags, floor cleaner, and toilet bowl cleaner. You are now well equipped so it's time to get to work.

Cleaning a bathroom has to start with making sure that everything is in its proper place. Remove all dirty things including dirty clothes, towels, and rugs. Now, start cleaning what you think is the most difficult spot in the bathroom to clean. You got it right: the shower. The shower is the most likely place to get a buildup of mildew and soap scum. Scrubbing these nasty things can really drain your energy so it is best to start treating them with your favorite bathroom cleaner; the choice of bathroom cleaning products is all up to you. To make it easier for you to scrub the soap scum, allow the cleaner to soak for a short time. While waiting for it to soak, clean the shower door, track, and wash the shower curtain. After all scrubbing with soap is done, rinse well with water to get rid of loose chemicals and dirt sticking around.

It's now time to clean the mirrors. If your family loves to write messages in the mirror when it turns foggy after a hot shower, then your mirror surely has streaks on it which need to go. Use a rag or a newspaper to clean the mirrors. Remember to dust the shelves, moldings, baseboards, and door frames next.

The next thing you need to do is to clean the sink and the facets. Don't forget to include the pedestals of pedestal sinks and the counter tops during this step. You can use any bathroom cleaner for cleaning these parts. Once you are done with the sink, it is time to face the dirtiest part of the bathroom: the toilet. When we say toilet, we do not refer to only one specific area. You need to clean several different areas of the toilet. Yes, even those certain places that disgust you the most need to be cleaned. To start with, use a regular toilet brush and a little bit of toilet bowl cleaner to clean the inside of the toilet. A good surface cleaner can also be used for the rim of the bowl, the under part of the lid, the seat, and the back of the toilet. Don't forget the most overlooked area of the toilet which is the pedestal. Remember to clean the back part near the floor. I also like to remove the seat and clean that under hot water in my tub. You will be surprised how easy it is to remove the seat and how utterly dirty it will be.

To end your job of cleaning the bathroom, mop the floor. Sponges and rags can be used to do this part of the cleaning but if you really want to make sure that the whole area is clean, a paper towel can be used which you can simply dispose after use. Of course, since you have those used paper towels in the bin, then it will remind you to finish up cleaning the bathroom by emptying the garbage.
